Taxes

Maryland's business taxes are competitive. Maryland's basic tax philosophy is one of fairness and consistency. The state does not tax gross receipts, corporate franchises, or personal property. Business taxes in Maryland compare favorably to neighboring states. The corporate income tax rate is 7% and the sales and use tax is 5%. The new employer rate for unemployment insurance is 2.3% based on a taxable wage base of $8,500. Workers' Compensation insurance rates are among the lowest in the country.
